Epic Games continues to ramp up their presence in the blockchain scene. After recently adding Gods Unchained to their distribution platform, they now also host My Pet Hooligan on the Epic Games store! This is a positive sign for both My Pet Hooligan and web3 gaming in general!

And this addition is just in time as My Pet Hooligan prepares to launch the next phase of their alpha testing. Players can gain access to the alpha by owning either a Hooligan or a Zuckbot (Zuckbots are the cheaper choice) NFT. The team says you can expect to see download keys in your mailbox today, June 29th, at 4pm PST which will provide access to ‘Alpha 2.0 Turbo’!

You can also sign up for beta access on the My Pet Hooligan website. The team plans to give away five custom baseball jerseys through a raffle for everyone that signs up for early access on their website.

What is My Pet Hooligan?

Sort of a GTA occupied by rabbits with attitude, My Pet Hooligan is a third-person, shoot-em-up style game. MPH offers a number of different game modes for players, including Team Death Match, Battle Royale, and even a social, hangout area. The lore behind the game speaks of the rabbits freeing themselves from the clutches of Meta Zuckbot, an evil overlord and establishing a new, more anarchic world. With destructible, city-based environments, My Pet Hooligan promises plenty of carnage and mayhem for its players!

The game will offer free to play options, but during the current alpha players need to own a My Pet Hooligan NFT to join. This can be either a Hooligan or a Zuckbot.

The primary Hooligan NFT collection consists of 8,888 rabbits with attitude, living on the Ethereum blockchain. Owning one of these playable NFTs also opens up early access to releases. But like many web3 projects, My Pet Hooligan isn’t content to just stay in one lane. They are also creating animated shorts, real life merchandise, and even offer ‘Hooligram’, an app that lets you animate your Hooligan and even have it imitate your facial expressions! This is built to feed into potential user created content with their own Hooligans, with owners retaining IP rights for their NFTs. In addition, they offer 3d models of all of the Hooligans for creators to use.

Hooligan Holders also passively earn s-karrots, a precursor to Karrots, the official game currency.

How Does Alien Avatars Work?

Alien Avatars is about creating your own, unique Avatar design and then putting it up on the marketplace for others to mint. Players buy Avatar parts packs from Alien Avatars. These packs are paid for in Trilium token (TLM), the currency for Alien Worlds. Pack prices range from 500 TLM for a small pack to 5,000 TLM for an Ultra Rare pack.

Inside these packs are parts, used to make custom Avatars. Once a user has created and named their Avatar template, they can then put it up on the market by paying a fee of 1,000 TLM tokens. The designer of the template earns 25% of the cost every time their Avatar is minted. The rarity of the Avatar template is based on the average rarity of all the parts used.

Avatar minting prices vary based on rarity, and also on how many times they’ve been purchased. Every mint increases the price of the next mint for that Avatar by 10%. If the Avatar goes unminted for a day, the price will slowly, but steadily decrease until the next purchase. Avatar mints aren’t just for everyone though. In order to mint one of these Avatars, you must hold an Alien Worlds NFT Tool of the same rarity in your wallet!

The price for minting a common Avatar starts at 250 TLM. It ramps up quickly to 1,000 TLM for a rare Avatar, and runs all the way up to 6,250 TLM tokens for a mythical rarity Avatar.

Hybrid games seem to be gaining some momentum in the web3 markets. One of those in development, Fableborne, will soon begin accepting registrations for their next playtest. This playtest will only be open to a small group of players — Discord moderators, Fableborne Creators, and a few selected community members. Registration for this playtest begins on June 28th on their Discord server.

This is actually the fourth playtest from Fableborne this year. Each one a weekend long or so and introducing new features and game mechanics. I expect these playtests to continue and grow longer. So if this seems like a game that you might be interested in, I recommend establishing yourself on their Discord server to open up opportunities to join future playtests!

The Fableborne team also asks that all playtesters fill out a short survey within three days after the closed playtest ends. Those who don’t won’t be invited to future closed playtests!

A number of new features arrive with this playtest. Fableborn now includes leaderboards for individuals and teams, a new game currency, full content rebalancing, and more!

What is Fableborn?

Fableborne is free to play, play to own game that is a blend of action RPG and base building. Featuring an isometric viewpoint, Fableborne allows players to take to the arena themselves in multiplayer, asynchronous combat.

In Fableborne, players scout for new and bigger islands, build and fortify their bases, and unlock and upgrade the Echoes of slumbering Heroes to raid other player’s islands for resources. Built as a mobile first game, Fableborn is meant to feature quick play sessions.

Players start the game with a basic island and a common Hero. But not all resources are available on the starting island, so players will need to raid other player’s bases, and defeat PvE encounters to build up their own base. Echoes are playable characters, with a variety of skill and talent unlocks to choose from when leveling up. But, every time an Echo is defeated, they begin to fade. Enough defeats and that Echo can no longer be used for raids. However, players have the option of resetting a faded Echo, bringing it back to life with full energy but removing all levels and talents. The rejuvenated Echo does get an ability boost to help them re-level up.

And while players will be able to purchase NFT heroes at some point in the near future, the Fableborne wants to build a ‘fair economy’ where every player has the potential to unlock and own new heroes. How this works has not yet been detailed. Fableborne will feature leaderboards and regular tournaments.

The first NFT mint for Fableborn should happen sometime this year.

Mobox hasn’t waited long to introduce the next phase of their MoDragon adventure! Starting on June 29th, MoDragon owners will be able to engage in several new acitivities. This event, dubbed ‘Unleash the Magic’ features three MoDragon related activities — Expeditions, Soul Awakening, and Dragon Taming.

Dragon Expedition is a quest style system that opens on June 29th and runs for four weeks. Expeditions have difficulty levels, with some requiring specific attributes or multiple Dragons. Dragons can only join one Expedition at a time. Dragons on Expeditions can still engage in other Dragon activities, but cannot listed, sold, traded, or burned. Doing so will forfeit any rewards. Expedition options refresh every 24 hours and players earn MoDragon Soul by completing Expeditions.

These Souls are used at the Dragon Soul Altar to receive blessings of the Dragon God. The altar opens on June 29th and will also be open for four weeks. In addition to Expeditions, players also earn Soul for Dragon purchases, breedings, upgrades, evolutions — pretty much any MoDragon related activity. Unfortunately, there doesn’t seem to be any indication of what these blessings are good for, but presumably it’s worth something!

Dragon Taming is open for the same time period as the other two events, and rewards players with weekly airdrops based on the number of Dragon Taming points they have accumulated. Players earn Dragon Taming points by purchasing, breeding, upgrading, and ascending their MoDragons. Higher rarity Dragons earn more points.

This is all building up to Dragonverse, a game realm with all the MoDragon features plus opportunities to adventure and battle with your dragons.

What are MoDragons?

MoDragons are a recently released NFT collection from Mobox on the Arbitrum chain. Players collect and breed these Dragons to try to secure their spot at the top of the collection leaderboard. MoDragons have both a daily leaderboard and a weekly ‘talent’ ranking. Players gain points on the talent leaderboard by upgrading and enhancing their Dragons.

Each Dragon can breed up to 7 times, though Legendary Dragons refuse to breed at all! Also, when matching Dragons for breeding, they must be within two tiers of each other. And unlike some breeding features in other games, MoDragons doesn’t allow parents to breed with their offspring, or for siblings to breed together.

The total collection power, or DragonMo Power, also factors into what Mobox is calling pre-mining. This allows the player to passively earn dragon stones that come in five different varieties. These will have some use in future expansions to the MoDragon system.

And finally, MoDragons also generate tickets for the Elemental Carnival. Players use this tickets on a spinning wheel to win prizes such as MBOX tokens and Dragon Eggs!

What is MOBOX?

MOBOX is a gaming platform running on the multiple chains that includes some decentralized finance elements. Though it began as a defi system, the gaming side of MOBOX has quickly grown. The site offers several games with play to earn elements, and have also built an expanding virtual world called MOMOverse.

Though obviously designed with mobile platforms in mind, the games can be played on desktop as well. They are all very casual, with rewards given to the top players. Most of the games provide opportunities for quicker advancement by spending MBOX tokens.

At the center of Mobox are Momos, NFT creatures that passively work in the mines to produce MBOX tokens and resources for use in the MOMOverse. Some of the games also use the Momos.

In typical Bored Ape style, we have a lot of hype, but not a lot of detail about their upcoming game called HV-MTL Forge. In fact, beyond the tagline “Build. Flex. Fight. Evolve.”, and a short introduction video that doesn’t really explain anything, we know very little about this game.

HV-MTL is another NFT collection in the Bored Ape Yacht Club portfolio. Players initially acquired these NFTs by completing the Dooky Dash game earlier this year to acquire keys, which then opened a chest containing a Power Source. These Power Sources evolved into the current set of HV-MTL Robots, and the Forge game will likely be another step in their evolution.

What is HV-MTL Forge?

All we have know HV-MTL Forge is what we can gather from the 42 second teaser trailer released on the BAYC Twitter feed. It looks like HV-MTL Forge will be some sort of home / base building and decoration game, with a social, voting aspect.

Players will construct their base. From what and with what we don’t know. Then, at some point, other players will begin voting on which ones they like the best. From this popularity contest will come a set of leaderboards, which offer rewards in the form of ‘powerful upgrades’. I would assume that you need to own a HV-MTL NFT to participate in the Forge, but again, we have no details on that. The BAYC team has promised to reveal more over the next week leading up the launch, but they’ve also said that “it will just make sense once you’ve played for a bit.”

Bored Ape Yacht Club team has promoted HV-MTL (and actually many of their recent NFT collections), as living NFTs that change based on the owner’s actions and decisions. We’ve seen a little bit of this with the Otherdeeds and the Obelisk pieces, but it will be interesting to see where they go with these otherwordly robots. The current floor price for an HV-MTL NFT is 0.7 ETH.

What is Bored Ape Yacht Club?

Created by Yuga Labs, Bored Ape Yacht Club began as a PFP project but has grown into much more. Launched in April of 2021, the Bored Apes are one of the most well known NFT projects. They include a number of celebrities in their owner list, and the rarer NFTs have sold for over $1 million!. They have also launched several additional NFT collections such as the Mutant Ape Yacht Club, Bored Ape Kennel Club, Otherside deeds, and more!

Land delegation, a pseudo-scholarship program, makes its way to Axie Homeland. Axie land delegation lets land owners without the time or energy to manage their land plots, make a deal with players who don’t own any land, but are interested in land management. These secondary players are called Stewards in the Axie universe.

The delegation process is manual at the moment. Land owners must select their plot and input the address of the player they wish to delegate to. There is no official rental market. All rewards earned by placing on the leaderboards are automatically sent to the land owner’s Ronin wallet. It is up to the Steward and the property owner to work out any payment details. Owners can set delegation periods from 1 to 365 days. Land owners can also choose to revoke land access to a Steward, 24 hours after their initial delegation.

While it’s unfortunate that the new land delegation feature isn’t fully integrated into the game, allowing for blockchain-enforced contracts between two players, this is at least a step in the right direction. And while we still wait for the land-based gameplay that doesn’t require access to a land plot, land delegation works as an excellent tool both for landowners, and those who are just interested in playing Axie Homeland.

What is Axie Homeland?

Axie Homeland is a game about building and growing on your land plot while putting your Axies to work. The main goal of Homeland is to manage a settlement as efficiently as possible in order to equip adventurers with gear and supplies to defeat waves of monsters. The more successful these adventurers are, the more rewards the landowner receives. Players need to grow crops and construct buildings, assigning Axies to take care of the work.

Right now, Axie Homeland offers the following features:

• Gather – gather raw materials from the surrounding environment
• Craft – craft powerful gear and supplies for your adventurers
• Trade – trade with native adventurers and other landowners for in-game currency
• Decorate – beautify your land plot
• Build – build the necessary infrastructure to craft gear and process raw materials
• Passive Adventure – equip and send your adventurers to battle
• Compete – strive to be one of the top players on the leaderboards
• Explore – explore the world of Lunacia as landowners turn their empty land plots into massive settlements

At some point in the future, Homeland will tie back into Axie Origins, with both games supporting each other in different ways.

Legends of the Mara is an upcoming, land-based game about gathering resources, evolving Vessels into Mara and Mara into Kodamara, and defending against The Shattered, a race of mysterious, dangerous Titans.

To start playing, you must own an Otherdeed Expanded. This is an Otherdeed that has been run through a contract which detaches any associated Kodas, generates a Vessel NFT, and returns the Otherdeed in Expanded form. In addition, you will need either a Koda or a Vessel to make use of the deed. You can also use Maras or Kodamaras to work on your land plots, but they won’t be available right away.

Legends of the Mara Gameplay

Players nest Vessels in their Otherdeed to grow them into Maras. Only one Vessel may be nested at a time on a deed. Vessels come in three types, Hunter, Farmer, and Enchanter. A nested Vessel will evolve into the corresponding type of Mara. Players assign Mara to their Otherdeed to begin working. Players can also use Sediment Fragments and Seasonal Catalysts to upgrade their Mara into a Kodmara, a more powerful version of the Mara. The selection of ingredients used to generate the Kodamara determine the final outcome. Mara evolution is a one-way process.

Kodas are special in that they do not need to be nested first, and they can be assigned to any of the roles. They are also the most powerful of the game units. The Tier rating of the Otherdeed determines worker capacity. While the Sediment trait determines how many Sediment Fragments the Otherdeed produces. Farmers placed on an Otherdeed allow for Fragment harvesting.

Players can choose between farming their Deed for resources, or battling The Shattered for special treasures, known as Unearthed Artifacts. The game will include a leaderboard showing which players have done the most damage to The Shattered, and how long it took to take down one of these mighty titans. Top players on the leaderboard receive additional treasures at the end of the season. Legends of the Mara will include an evolving storyline with their seasons, making each one a little different.

The Otherside team also mentioned (without any details), their plans to create ‘alliances’ with other PFP projects as “reinforcements into the Legends of the Mara battle.” Perhaps we’ll be able to use NFTs from other projects as workers and fighters?

What is the Otherside?

Otherside is a Metaverse project by Yuga Labs, the founders of the Bored Ape Yacht Club. It is a world of floating islands, each one an NFT Otherdeed (100,000 in total). Otherdeeds come in different tiers, which affects their appearance and their resource production. Each plot can produce up to four different resources. Some lands also come with special Artifacts or Koda visitors. The land NFTs are dynamic, designed to change and evolve based on the owner’s actions.

Otherside will eventually release tools that allow Otherdeed holders to shape and create their own experiences on their plots.

Arc8, a mobile app with a number of different, competitive games available, announces their plans to mint League Passes for their upcoming Season 0 event! Registration is open for the whitelist through June 23rd at https://www.arc8.com. Winners will be notified via email.

Also, some gaming projects, such as Mocaverse and Boomland, have a number of whitelist spots available for their communities. Be sure to check the info on your favorite Discord servers for opportunities.

Players need these League Pass NFTs to participate in Season 0 of the Arc8 League, which offers many opportunities to win tokens and NFT prizes! Season 0 is slated to start on July 11th, and run for a month through August 11th.

Arc8 League Pass Mint and Utility

The sale for these Arc8 League Pass runs in three phases. The first phase is the Guaranteed Whitelist sale. It’s unclear what it takes to get on the Guaranteed Whitelist roster. But anyway, they will get the first option to buy starting on June27th, 10am UTC and running until 1pm UTC the same day. The Whitelist portion of the sale kicks off immediately afterwards and runs until 10am UTC on June 28th. After that, the public sale opens on June 28th, 3pm UTC, and remains open until July 3rd or the Passes sell out.

Only 555 Passes are available and the cost for the mint is 1900 GMEE tokens (~$15 USD). Purchases are limited to one per wallet for the first two phases, but open game once the public sale begins.

Prizes for Season 0 include $10,000 USD worth of MATIC, USDT, and GMEE tokens, distributed in daily rounds to the top scoring players. Also, everyone who holds the pass and plays at least one game in the first week receives a MATIC-themed G-Bot. G-Bots give owners access to extra games on the Arc8 platform not available to other players.

Other prizes include ten Boomland Genesis Chests (for Hunters Online). The Chests will be handed out via a random draw among all players who played at least 10 games during the first two weeks, and another ten to the top 10 players at the end of the season. All pass purchasers can also claim a free Planet IX starter pack from the Planet IX site after July 18th. In addition, 10 ‘Mystery NFTs’ will go out in a draw from players who played on at least 20 different days during the season. And, a one of a kind Mystery NFT will be awarded to one lucky player — though we don’t know how that winner will be picked yet.

What is Arc8?

Arc8 is a web3-enabled, mobile app featuring a number of competitive games under its roof. Players earn GMEE by playing and winning matches. Arc8 has over a dozen skill-based games available. All of the games are in a duel PvP format. Players are paired up and then compete asynchronously to try and reach the highest score in the same game.

Mavia, a mobile, base-building, PvP game prepares to launch the first phase of their beta at the end of this month (June 2023). Mavia plans to roll out their beta in two phases, with an official, global launch happening soon afterwards!

More about the Beta

These betas will limit players to a maximum Headquarters level of 5, so not all units and buildings will be available.

The first phase will be exclusively for land owners, with only a few being given first access on June 30th. The team will continue to roll out the release to the other landowners during the course of phase 1, which they expect to last two months. You will need to register in Discord and verify land ownership to be eligible for this phase. Unfortunately for those of us who don’t already own lands, they are not cheap — current floor price is nearly $600! But if you’re in the market, you can find plots for sale on Open Sea.

Phase 2 of the beta will open up to a wider audience, including those who do not own any land NFTs. There will be a waitlist signup page, with priority given to community members. Progress from phase 1 will be wiped, and phase 2 should see all of the core game features in place, including alliances and cosmetics and decorations. Phase 2 is expected to run from September 1st through October 31st.

And then, finally, the launch will happen at the end of the year, with a gradual, worldwide rollout of the game. For the global launch, progress will be reset again for the final time.

All phases of beta and launch will be available for both Android and iOS.

What is Heroes of Mavia?

Heroes of Mavia is a mobile, base building, RTS game built on the Ethereum blockchain. Players construct and improve bases, and fight with other players to earn RUBY, the main game currency. The game features upgradeable NFTs in the form of Bases, Heroes, and Statues. Bases are the core game component, and each player needs one in order to play. Heroes and Statues are optional, but both provide substantial benefits to your team. Heroes assist your army with attack and defense, while Statues boost base production. Players can upgrade these NFTs by spending RUBY tokens.

The game also includes Gold and Oil resources. These are in-game only and used for certain base upgrades. These resources are produced by bases and can be stolen from other players in raids. There will be some sort of MMR / power rating system to try and keep players matched up to other players of equal strength.

Heroes of Mavia joins the growing stable of games that are incorporating rental mechanics from the very beginning. Base owners can choose to rent out their bases to other players for passive income. This can be a fixed price rental system, or a ‘partnership’. Partnerships function as a built-in scholarship system. The base owner lets the partner run and upgrade their base in exchange for a percentage of the RUBY income.

First Explorers Season 2 has arrived! And with it come some changes. Though the basic game is still the same — gather resources and complete Missions — we have a new mini-game around harvesting, as well as the ability for land owners to add NFT Decorations to their plots!

What’s New in Season 2?

This season brings a new mini-game interface to basic gathering. Instead of automatically harvesting, players must now move a targeting cursor onto the resource before time runs out. But don’t worry, it’s a pretty easy task! Though you do get bonuses for hitting just the right spot when the circle is filled.

We also have some shakeups with building ownership. First of all, to get a building up and running on a plot, owners must stake 10,000 UM tokens per building — up from the 5K needed in Season 1. This was done to try and slow down the creation of resources in-game, but it did rub some land owners the wrong way.

But, the reason that the Continuum World team was worried about over-production is that Season 2 introduces land decorations. Players can now use their NFT Land Decorations to boost production on their plots. Decorations can be placed on any plot, but some are associated with certain Biomes and will perform better there. There is also decreased production bonus when adding duplicate Decorations.

And the final addition to Season 2 of First Explorers are UmiBot Chips. These Chips have two uses. The first is for building owners, allowing them to set their UmiBot to auto-harvest their buildings at the cost of one Chip per harvest. The second use is for building renters. Renters can use UmiBot Chips to speed up production and finish it instantly — perfect for those times when you just need a few items to finish a Mission. The cost for speeding up production is based on the number of resources left in the queue.

How to Play First Explorers

In First Explorers, players can either harvest resources from plots they own, or gather from the wild. Each wild harvest brings in 1-3 different resources based on the type and rarity of the plot. Players can receive harvest bonuses by equipping their Umi with clothing / accessories from the same set. Wild resources spawn randomly. Players just have to look around the map to find an available spot. There are also random chests that appear which can contain various prizes. Players need energy to harvest wild resources. Energy replenishes slowly over time, or players can purchase batteries, which will refill energy supplies.

Each biome type produces different resources. And each rarity level also has a special resource only available at that rarity, making all plots worthwhile. In addition, some resources can only be acquired from buildings. Players who own the buildings and stake 10,000 UM tokens receive a steady, passive income of the associated resource. Other players can pay a fee to use a building to acquire resources, with a small percentage of that fee going directly to the owning player.

And the whole point of gathering all of these resources is to complete Missions. At any given point, there are three active Missions for each Biome type, and a set of three missions that require resources from various biomes. Missions have a limited number of times they can be completed, and they also rotate on a regular basis. Rewards for Missions include NFTs, UM tokens, and Ranking Points. Ranking Points are added to weekly and seasonal leaderboards, with prizes of UM tokens to the top players.

Continuum World First Explorers is free to play. And even without owning land, you can still gather wild resources, complete Missions, and earn NFTs, which you can either use yourself or sell at the in-game market!
